Our objective is to provide campers ages 8-14 with a safe, fun environment to grow their knowledge and skills in our unique urban mountain setting

Whether it’s learning about invasive species, migratory patterns with our gym-sized migration map, sleeping in a Mongolian yurt, or rocking your spirit at the downtown climbing gym, this camp is for the curious, the inquisitive, the adventurous, fun loving camper looking for something more than koombaya around the campfire.

Have a look around the site. Meet our Camp Director Uncle Bob. Learn more about what you will discover. We look forward to seeing you!

What We Offer

We Have Yurts
We Have Yurts

Only Camp in Canada

Ever wonder what nomadic mountain peoples of central Asia slept in? Yurts! Which are freestanding dome structures that our campers will sleep in as well. Ours are twenty feet in diameter and each houses 7 bunk beds.

Urban Mountain Location

At 1,200 meters above sea level Kimberley is the highest City in Canada. Our urban mountain location means we have easy access to nearby mountain landscapes while being located just a 15 minute walk from downtown.

A Camp Like No Other

This is not a traditional camp. We are not remote or located by an isolated lake. Campers may sing songs around a fire, but they will definitely enjoy the best of everything the Kimberley area has to offer through experiences developed and curated by qualified instructors and educators.

What People Say

  • As a parent, I understand the challenges associated with summer childcare. With this in mind, we developed the Kimberley Alpine Discovery Camp to ensure we provide a safe and reliable option for parents when sending their loved ones away from home. We offer parents an opportunity to relax and enjoy peace-of-mind knowing their children are learning invaluable skills and most importantly, are in good hands.

  • I love being outside, partly because of fond memories from summer camps I attended and later worked at. The Discovery Camp is building these memories in the next generation as part of the Society’s mandate to support tourism through cultural, historic, and recreational experiences.
